Am I a candidate for dental implants?
Although the majority of patients are good candidates, we will review your medical and dental history in detail to determine if there are some considerations before an implant placement.
There are few medical conditions that pose a relative contraindication and fewer that pose an absolute contraindication for implant surgery. We will discuss with your medical team what modifications could be done to improve your condition and to prepare you for implant surgery.
Regarding your dental history it is very common to findjawbone atrophies (poor amounts of alveolar bone remaining), which are treatable with a bone graft to prepare a site to receive the implants. A Cone Beam Computerized Tomographic scan (CBCT Scan) is required for proper bone evaluation, implant therapy planning and surgical placement. You do not have to travel elsewhere as we take the scan at our Dental Implant Center in Georgia Prosthodontics – Smile Specialists.
